John McCain and Sarah Palin wave to supporters at a 2008 presidential campaign rally

Serving on political campaigns and in government roles have been major highlights of my professional life. My first job came in Frankfort, Ky., where I worked in state government with the elected commissioner of agriculture’s office promoting a new farm and home safety program statewide. From there I moved to Washington, D.C., where my passion for politics and public policy landed me first in a U.S. House office and later in the U.S. Senate in legislative roles.

On the campaign side, I’ve served candidates as a communications director, press secretary and public spokesman, all of which came with lead responsibility for social media planning and strategy. From Calif. to Kan. and beyond, I’ve helped steward messaging, voter contact, event logistics and digital outreach for mayoral, gubernatorial, U.S. Senate and presidential campaigns.

I served U.S. Sens. John McCain and Fred Thompson during their presidential bids in 2007–2008 and first cut my teeth in Independent politics in 2012 with Americans Elect, the first national online presidential primary. Since then, I’ve worked two cycles with Independent candidate Greg Orman in Kan., where his 2014 U.S. Senate campaign gained national attention.

In 2016, I was tapped as a senior advance lead for the Trump–Pence presidential campaign and later served as a public affairs liaison for the 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee. Following the inauguration, I was detailed to the Commerce Department as a senior advisor to Sec. Wilbur Ross in the Office of Public Affairs.
